The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is especially noticeable due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in greater chassis twisting and body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps increase the stiffness of the rear part of the body.
