When driving at high speed, a vehicle’s chassis is subjected to significant loads, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes the chassis to twist or the bodywork to deform, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation while driving through corners can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps further connect the mounting points of the rear suspension and reduce unwanted body twisting.
