The vehicle chassis is subjected to the greatest loads as a result of driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This causes considerable chassis twisting, deformation and torsional loads on the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
