A vehicle’s chassis is exposed to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When mass is transferred in a corner, one side of the vehicle can experience up to three times more load than the other. This causes the chassis or bodywork to flex and twist, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex and twist during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower brace helps increase the stiffness of this part of the chassis.
- Design: rear lower chassis brace
