The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, hard braking or intense acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This causes pronounced chassis twisting or body shell deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
