The car’s chassis is one of the components subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to loads up to three times greater than the other. This results in high loads on the chassis, as well as body flex and deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flex when cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
