The vehicle’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or abrupt acceleration.
In certain cases, the transfer of mass during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes considerable chassis flexing, or deformation and torsional loads on the bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
