The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This causes considerable chassis flexing or deformation and body torsion, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing while driving through corners can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
