The car’s chassis is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during hard cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of weight to one side of the vehicle can result in forces up to 3 times greater than on the other side. This causes significant bending and twisting of the chassis, or deformation of the body, which causes the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps further connect the mounting points and reduce undesirable body movement.
