The vehicle chassis is exposed to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to 3 times greater than on the other. This causes twisting and deformation of the body, consequently reducing tyre grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis when driving through bends can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
