The vehicle chassis is the part exposed to the greatest loads during driving. These loads are mainly caused by the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can lead to significant chassis twisting or body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps reduce unwanted body movement.
