The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to loads up to three times greater than the other. This results in significant loads on the chassis, body flex and torsional deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex and torsional deformation when cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The brace helps reduce unwanted flex in the rear of the body and contributes to more predictable vehicle behaviour during dynamic driving.
