The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly noticeable due to weight transfer through the body during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater loads and body flex, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex and deformation when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
