The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This causes significant twisting and deformation of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Body deformation and twisting when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace helps further connect the mounting points and reduce unwanted body twisting.
