The car’s bodywork is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly noticeable when weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When driving through a corner, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant bending, deformation and twisting of the bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The strut brace helps increase the stiffness of the rear section of the bodywork and thereby contributes to more predictable vehicle handling.
