The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when the vehicle’s body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in considerable bending and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis while driving through a corner can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The strut brace helps increase body rigidity around the upper mounting points of the rear suspension.
