The car body is the part of the vehicle that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the body, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Deformation and twisting of the body during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace helps connect the suspension mounting points, thereby limiting body twisting.
