The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during sporty driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This can result in greater chassis flex, body deformation and torsional loads, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear chassis strut brace helps to limit these body movements.
