The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, hard braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater twisting and deformation of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace helps reduce body twisting and improve the stiffness of the rear section of the vehicle.
