The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration. This is mainly caused by the transfer of the body’s weight.
During fast cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to 3 times greater force than the other. This can result in significant chassis flex or body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The strut brace helps limit these loads and contributes to more stable vehicle behaviour.
