The car body is the part subjected to the greatest load during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater deformation and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear upper strut brace helps increase body stiffness in the mounting area.
