The car’s chassis is the part that carries the greatest loads during dynamic driving. These loads are mainly caused by the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and hard acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of weight can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes significant twisting and deformation of the body, which can lead to the tyres losing grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
