The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when the body mass is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, the transfer of mass in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. The result is severe chassis twisting, body deformation and loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
