A car’s chassis is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads as a result of the driver’s actions. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.

In some cases, weight transfer when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. The result is heavy loads on the chassis, body flex and deformations that cause the tyres to lose grip.

Chassis deformation and flexing when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
