The car body is the part subjected to the greatest load during dynamic driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. The result is significant bending, deformation and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace helps connect the mounting points and limit unwanted body movement.
