The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is mainly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes the body to bend and twist, which can lead to the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex and twisting when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace connects the rear suspension mounting points and helps reduce unwanted body movement.
