The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly noticeable when the vehicle’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, hard braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in increased twisting and deformation of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace helps increase body stiffness around the suspension mounting points.
