The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress during fast driving. This is especially pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or intensive acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in greater chassis flex and body deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flex during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
