The car body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the body during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace helps increase body stiffness and limit its twisting.
