The car’s body is the part subjected to the greatest loads when driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater bending and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis while driving through a corner can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear strut brace helps increase body stiffness in the mounting area.
