A car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, hard braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes significant chassis flex or deformation and body torsion, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing in corners can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The brace helps to further reinforce the rear section of the chassis and reduce its flex during dynamic driving.
