The vehicle body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is especially evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, the transfer of mass when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to three times more force than the other. This can result in significant twisting and bending of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Twisting and deformation of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The brace connects the mounting points and helps limit unwanted body twisting.
- Design: rear strut brace
