The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly noticeable when the body weight shifts during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant loads, flexing and twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while driving through a corner can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
