The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of weight can cause forces on one side of the vehicle to be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes significant body twisting and deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
The rear strut brace helps increase body rigidity around the rear damper mounting points.
