The vehicle body is among the parts most heavily stressed by driving style. This stress is caused mainly by the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to as much as three times more force than the other. This causes the body to twist and bend, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear upper strut brace helps further connect the suspension mounting points and limit body twisting.
