The car body is one of the parts subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is mainly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in increased twisting and bending of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Twisting and deformation of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
