The car body is subjected to heavy loads during fast driving, particularly due to weight transfer during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes the body to twist and deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear upper strut brace helps connect the rear suspension mounting points and increase body stiffness in this area.
