The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater bending and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis bending and twisting in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
