Would you like to achieve more power from your turbocharged engine while also relieving the load on the turbocharger? Then this Bull-X product is an ideal place to start. Downpipes have a major effect on engine response and power and form the link between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. The larger the pipe diameter and the greater its flow capacity, the more easily the turbocharger can discharge the processed exhaust gases through the exhaust system. This has a positive effect on torque and power, while also reducing the thermal load on the turbocharger and surrounding components.
Advantages:
- the turbocharger can discharge exhaust gases more easily, resulting in increased power;
- more torque, as the turbocharger reaches speed more quickly and is less restricted;
- lower exhaust gas temperatures, reducing the load on the exhaust manifold and turbocharger;
- the OEM-style connections allow plug-and-play installation;
- pipe diameter: 76 mm;
- available with no catalytic converter, a 100-cell sports catalytic converter, a 200-cell sports catalytic converter, a Bull-X 200-cell EOBD sports catalytic converter by HJS, or a 200-cell HJS sports catalytic converter with ECE approval.
Road use: Only the version with the 200-cell HJS sports catalytic converter with ECE approval is suitable for road use. Versions without a catalytic converter, and versions with a 100-cell, 200-cell or Bull-X 200-cell EOBD sports catalytic converter without ECE approval, are intended exclusively for use on a race track.
Catalytic converter information
When selecting the downpipe without a catalytic converter or with a 100- or 200-cell catalytic converter, the post-catalyst lambda sensor may trigger a fault in the engine control unit. This does not affect driving performance, as the first lambda sensor required for engine management remains in place. The post-catalyst sensor is only used to monitor catalytic converter efficiency. The fault can be removed by adjusting the software by a specialist engine tuner.
Most vehicles up to the Euro 3 emissions standard do not have a post-catalyst lambda sensor, so installation is possible without further adjustment or a fault message. HJS ECE and EOBD catalytic converters have a considerably higher washcoat content and very high oxygen-storage capacity, which can prevent fault messages. The EOBD catalytic converters have been tested for this purpose up to Euro 4. Their durability and use are also suitable up to the Euro 6 emissions standard. On Euro 5/6 vehicles, the issues described above can only be avoided by selecting a catalytic converter with ECE approval.
Suitable for: Ford Mustang VI (S550).
