CTS Turbo intake system for BMW F2X/F3X/F87 N55

After extensive development, CTS Turbo has introduced a new intake system for BMW F2X/F3X/F87 models with the N55 engine. This is an advanced intake system for F2X/F3X models with the N55 engine, as an incorrectly shaped mass air flow (MAF) housing in other intake systems can cause poorer engine performance. The factory MAF housing is shaped as a hexagon; using a round housing can cause incorrect air flow readings, an unstable idle, downshifting – especially in vehicles with a ZF automatic transmission – and increased fuel consumption. Due to the incorrect shape of the MAF housing, the DME control unit does not receive accurate air flow data.

CTS Turbo therefore developed and manufactured its own hexagonal aluminium MAF housing, which ensures accurate air measurement comparable to the factory design.

The original air intake works together with the airbox and supplies cold air to the intake system. The air then passes through a 3.5-inch high-flow air filter with an inverted cone shape for more efficient air delivery to the engine. The 3.5-inch CNC-mandrel-bent aluminium intake pipe enables smooth delivery of cold air directly to the engine and reduces turbulence caused by unnecessary joints. All CTS Turbo system components are matched to one another and provide increased power and torque throughout the entire rev range, together with a more pronounced, race-inspired sound.

Note: The intake system is suitable for vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions, as well as rear-wheel-drive and xDrive all-wheel-drive versions. It does not fit BMW 335i GT F34 (Gran Turismo) models due to the different design of the front end and bonnet.

On an otherwise standard vehicle, the maximum power gain is 10 to 15 hp.
