Operation and adjustment
The Forge Motorsport actuator enables more precise adjustment and control of the boost pressure according to the vehicle’s requirements, which can improve response and control. The product is supplied with a pre-determined spring suitable for the factory boost pressure or slightly above it. For modified vehicles, a stronger spring can be used when higher boost pressure is required.
Diaphragm sealing of the internal components is the standard configuration for this actuator, while piston sealing is also available. The piston version provides comparable performance and requires less maintenance due to its more durable internal components.
The actuator is designed to increase the turbocharger system’s boost pressure output. Compatibility with all applications cannot be guaranteed, and pressure cannot be increased beyond the limits of the engine management system, whether it is a factory-fitted or aftermarket system.
Spring and technical notes
The actuator is supplied as standard with a spring marked green. All actuator rods are made from 303-grade stainless steel.
The spring pressure values listed for the individual colour markings refer only to the mechanical part and are mainly relevant to older turbo engines without regulation via the ECU or solenoid.
On modern engines with regulation via the ECU or solenoid, the target boost pressure is not necessarily the same as the nominal mechanical pressure of the selected spring. When selecting a spring according to the vehicle model and planned level of modification, consultation with a suitably qualified tuner is recommended.
For the T2 spring offer (FMAS049), when using the spring adjustment kit, the Diaphragm Type 2, 049 version must be selected.
