No coking of the inlet valves and intake manifold flaps, without walnut blasting? And no loss of performance? Our TFSI Catch Can kit helps to resolve this issue.
Advantages:
- oil vapour is routed into the catch tank and collected there;
- prevents coking of the intake manifold flaps and inlet valves;
- prevents large quantities of oil from being burnt;
- no loss of performance;
- fitting the system contributes to cleaner combustion;
- compatible with the original intake system and engine cover;
- suitable for all models with all-wheel or front-wheel drive;
- the windscreen washer reservoir does not need to be modified as with other manufacturers, so its full capacity remains available;
- the hoses are pre-cut to the correct length and the connections are pre-assembled;
- the OEM gasket can be reused and does not need to be modified.
Disadvantages without a catch tank:
- coking of the valve can cause the valve to break off and subsequently damage the engine;
- loss of performance and an uneven idle.
Technical details:
- catch tank with chambered construction and sintered filter;
- extra-large tank capacity: approx. 1200 ml;
- black braided steel lines with motorsport fittings;
- CNC-machined PCV Fix;
- black anodised finish;
- Plug&Play kit with no modification work required;
- emissions values (Euro emissions standard) remain compliant;
- the catch tank can be drained from underneath, for example during an oil change, without removing the tank;
- supplied without an approval certificate.
Normally, oil and water vapour is routed into the intake manifold, where it is ignited after entering the combustion chamber together with the fuel-air mixture and expelled through the exhaust system. Due to the direct-injection system used in TSI models, the cylinder heads and valves are no longer washed with fuel. The fuel previously used for cleaning is therefore missing, as it is injected directly into the combustion chamber.
As a result, substantial contamination builds up through exhaust-gas recirculation in combination with oil and water vapour from the crankcase ventilation. These deposits accumulate in the cylinder-head chambers and on the valves. The deposits roughen the material surface, narrow the air-flow cross-sections and prevent optimum air turbulence and cylinder filling.
When the coking is still limited, performance is initially noticeably reduced and the engine develops an uneven idle. Emissions also worsen and fuel consumption increases. At an advanced stage, the deposits interfere with the valve train, meaning that the valves may no longer close fully. This results in insufficient compression in the affected cylinders and causes misfires. The deposits can also cause the valves to break off and, in the worst case, damage the engine.
The HF-Series Catch Can kit resolves this problem. During engine operation, the catch tank system no longer routes oil vapour into the intake tract; instead, it directs the vapour into the catch tank, where it is collected. This reduces valve coking, improves engine running and restores the original performance as far as possible. Fitting the system also contributes to cleaner combustion. Despite diverting oil and water vapour into the catch can, emissions values (Euro emissions standard) remain compliant.
The main problem: the poorly designed crankcase ventilation system. Under high G-forces, particularly in combination with higher oil temperatures, oil can rise as far as the crankcase ventilation and then enter the clean side of the turbocharger directly. This can cause heavy smoke from the exhaust tips. The consequences may include limp mode, misfires, turbocharger damage and even major engine damage.
The oil separator does not work optimally under sporting conditions. Such conditions generally occur on a racetrack, but can also result from heavy braking from high speeds or driving on steep roads.
The solution: unlike simple versions that merely place a tank in the return line, our Catch Can system also modifies the complete PCV block on the cylinder head. Its design prevents engine oil from spilling over into the return line, eliminating this issue on all EA888 Gen.3/4 engines.
Road use: This product is supplied without an approval certificate and is not permitted for use on public roads. It is intended exclusively for racetrack use.
Suitable for: SEAT Leon III (5F), VW Golf VII (5G1).
