Racingline intake system – VAG models with a 2.0 TDI engine (VWR12G60D)

The Racingline intake system supplies the 2.0 TDI engine with cooler, denser air. It replaces the restrictive factory airbox and, with improved airflow, helps to improve throttle response, efficiency and provide a more direct driving feel.

The standard intake system is a known restriction on these vehicles, especially after a remap or other engine modifications. The Racingline system addresses this with a high-flow intake pipe that draws cold air from outside the engine bay and helps to reduce intake air temperature.

Trifoam® filtration

The central part of the kit is the Racingline Trifoam® filter, made from a three-layer laminate of open-cell polyurethane foam. The same technology is also used in Formula 1 engines and provides a balance between filtration and airflow.

The filter is washable and reusable. In normal road use, it should be cleaned and re-oiled every 20,000 miles (30,000 km), which means less maintenance than with a standard paper filter element.

Performance and sound

By reducing restrictions in the intake system, the engine can make better use of its power and torque potential, with the effects most noticeable on remapped vehicles. Under harder acceleration, the intake sound is deeper and more pronounced, but the fully enclosed design means it does not become intrusive during everyday driving.
