The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in greater loads on the chassis, bending or twisting of the body and, consequently, a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
