The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is especially noticeable when the body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When weight is transferred in a corner, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This causes the chassis to twist and flex, or the body to deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The chassis brace helps limit this body movement.
