The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when the body’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
A chassis brace helps reduce undesirable body movements during dynamic driving.
