The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is especially pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to as much as three times more force than the other. This causes considerable chassis flex, or deformation and torsion of the bodywork, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
The chassis brace helps reduce these undesirable effects and improve bodywork rigidity.
