The car body is exposed to high loads while driving, especially due to weight transfer during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This can result in significant body flex and twisting, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
