A vehicle’s chassis is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident when the body’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to loads up to 3 times greater than the other. This can result in significant chassis flex or body deformation, as well as loss of tyre grip.
Chassis flex and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
Fender bars are designed to provide additional body support around the fenders and reduce unwanted flex.
