A car’s bodywork is subjected to significant loads while driving, particularly due to weight transfer during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes the bodywork to twist and flex, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body flex during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The brace helps increase the rigidity of the fender area and thereby contributes to more predictable vehicle behaviour.
